Selina had just robbed another jewelry store. This had practically become a nightly routine. It was almost like smoking; she knew it was dangerous, but it was so addictive that she couldn't stop herself, no matter how hard she tried to quit. She roamed the empty streets with a purse filled with all kinds of diamonds and a single ski mask, and she made sure not one thing fell out of it. She looked around to make sure nobody was there and opened the bag. She pulled out a diamond necklace and fastened it around her neck, then closed the bag again and made sure it was sealed tight. She kept walking nonchalantly as if nothing had just happened.

After a few steps, Selina would find that the necklace was missing from around her neck.
"Pretty pretty." A few feet in front of her stood a figure in a dark blue baseball cap, a white star on the front of it. The rest of his attire followed a similar theme: he wore a black t-shirt with an unzipped dark blue hoodie over it along with a pair of blue jean cargo pants. Finally, a pair of circular black goggles were fit over his eyes, concealing his identity.
"Of course, it's not nice to go around stealing from people."

Selina felt someone tug on her necklace and her neck suddenly felt bare. She could see the glimmering diamonds were gone. She twirled around and saw someone with goggles on. She rose an eyebrow. "Sorry, old habits die hard." She said quickly, walking fast to get away. Whoever that was obviously knew what she was up to and wanted something from her. She felt the pitons hidden in the heels of her shoes clacking against the ground. She was quick and swift, so she hid behind some trash cans and gripped her bag tight. Sure, it wasn't exactly the most glamorous hiding spot, but it was better than going to jail. She'd sleep there if that was what it took.

"You know..." The voice was behind her. It was impossible. How could he get right behind her even if he has just been standing near her on the other street? Besides that, the alleyway was a one way, with a brick wall at the end of it. "...not everybody walks around with a ski mask and diamonds in their purse. I know Gotham City's full of eccentricities, but I doubt that's one of them." His rather muscular arms were crossed in front of his chest, a hint of a smile on his lips.

Selina turned around quickly and saw that someone was behind her. First of all, how did he find her? She was wearing all black and practically blended in with her surroundings. And secondly, how did he get back there? She snuck out from her little hiding spot and stood in the street. She'd have to just be brave. She was a strong girl, even if she was small; she could defend herself. "Well maybe I'm just different." She said quietly. She also had a bullwhip in it, but she wasn't going to mention that. She gripped her bag behind her back and leaned against the wall, in a position where he couldn't just snatch it away from her. She sneakily pulled out her whip and rolled it up, hiding it behind her back.

"That's not really a good idea." The goggled man had once again seemed to teleport, as he was now standing five feet directly in front of Selena. His brown eyes were looking her up and down, but she wouldn't be able to tell due to the black goggles. "All whips do is excite me. So how about you just return those diamonds and everything'll be peachy?"

Selina rolled her eyes. "Yeah...return them..." She looked at him as if he were deformed. "Look, it was hard getting these. So I think I deserve to keep them as a reward." She winked at him. "It's basically payment for my hard work. It's only fair." She gave him a seductive look that would make him give in. She tried to almost hypnotize him with her eyes. She just had to get away somehow, but she thought maybe she'd mess with him a little first. After all, he was cute, so she had nothing to lose.

He had to admit that she was gorgeous. If she hadn't been stealing diamonds, Vern would probably go for her. Aw, who was he kidding? He never went for it. Shy alien guy + gorgeous human girls = no dice.
"It's also hard to blow up a city, it's hard to kill numerous people. You think you should get a reward for that, too?" A step was taken towards her. "You got two choices. You can put those diamonds back, or you can find some way to let me let you go. I HIGHLY doubt you can do that, so you might as well give them to me."

Selina laughed a little bit. "Well, not really...but nobody died, did they?" She winked at him. She knew he was defiantely threatening her, and she wasn't sure how to respond to that. She didn't know if she should be scared or to think it was slightly adorable. "Well, I would, but what do you expect me to do? Go walk in, say 'Sorry I took your diamonds, here you go', and then get turned in? Sorry, love, I don't think so." Even if that wasn't the case, there was still no chance she was returning them. She pulled out a diamond bracelet and examined it. "These diamonds aren't even top-notch." She said with a sigh. She hadn't even gotten too great of a catch this time.

Vern just grinned as she spoke. She probably just though he was some regular guy wearing goggles and a baseball cap. He actually hoped she tried to hit him or use that bullwhip on him, just so he could show her what he could do.
"Then I'll cut you a deal. You give me the diamonds and I'll let you go. I'll see to it that they get put back in place and I'll tell the cops I just found 'em. I'm a nice guy, after all."

"Just give them back..." Selina walked toward him so that they were practically touching. She dangled the same bracelet in front of his face. "Well, what if I don't? What are you gonna do to me?" She winked at him and grinned seductively. She was prepared to get him weak, maybe mess with him a little, and then just leave with her diamonds. She pulled out her whip and showed it to him. "You know, I don't only use this for fighting." She looked at him and let her grin fade to a smirk.

"Well, what if I don't? What are you gonna do to me?"
Vern simply grinned down at her, his brown eyes narrowed a bit behind his one-way goggles. "So you're going to try and get me weak, mess with my head, then leave with your diamonds." He paused, waiting to see her reaction. "Oh, I'm sorry. Did I just read your mind? I have a nasty habit of doing that." In a blur, his hands came up to grab the diamond bracelet from out of her hand. "I don't get played with. Either you go all the way or you give me the diamonds. I think you like the second option, don't you, dear?"

Selina let her smirk turn into a frown. She pulled her whip around him, pulling him close to her. "Look, why are your precious diamonds so important? There could be people dying and you're so fixated on these." She looked at him with a sad look in her eyes, even though she wasn't sad or afraid. She had a way of making herself seem so innocent even though she was anything but. She gave him a look of disbelief when he snatched the bracelet out of her hand. "Well if you want them so bad..." She emptied out her bag, leaving only two things; a ski mask and a very valuble diamond necklace that she'd been eyeing for a long time. "There you go." She started walking toward the edge of the building and leaped off, landing on her feet. She started running away in case he could see what was left in her bag. She tried to go through the absolute darkest parts of the alleyways so that nobody could even tell she was there.

"Look, why are your precious diamonds so important? There could be people dying and you're so fixated on these."
Before he could say anything, the girl had opened her purse and released its contents. His eyes looked down at them, but then he looked up upon hearing her jump from the building. He wouldn't let her get away from him. Yeah, because you think she's hot. Shut up.
Suddenly, a hand grabbed her shoulder, spinning her around and thus slamming her into a brick wall. "You know, bad things happen when people run from me." Now he was directly in front of her, his chest practically against her own. A hand came up to pull off his hat and goggles, revealing his short brown hair and brown eyes. "Be completely honest with me. I'll know if you're lying." A finger tapped the side of his temple, showing his psionic ability.

Selina had finally thought she'd gotten away when she felt someone slamming her against the wall. She raised an eyebrow. "So we've been having all this fun and I forgot to ask your name." She said, trying to get off-topic. She smirked at him. "Bad things? What kinds of bad things? Do tell." She wrapped her arms around the back of his neck, pretending to look vulnerable. She tried to avoid his question about her lying...he'd made it obvious that he could tell.
